This walk is timed to coincide with a period of high activity -- the ongoing passage of neotropical migrants as well as the onset of nesting season by other species. The walk will take us through a variety of habitats and some beaver-managed wetlands. We can expect to encounter a variety of warblers, especially Chestnut-sided and Pine; vireos, including Yellow-throated; Eastern Towhee, Wood Duck, and more.
Dress for the weather, expect ticks, and plan to walk about 3 miles, most of it on old roadways but one along a grassy path. NOTE: The leader requests that participants not use the Merlin Sound ID app during this walk.
Directions: Meet at the corner of Lyman and Greenwich Roads, Hardwick. Contact the leader for details.
Leader: Wendy Howes (413-967-4737) [warerivernatureclub@yahoo.com]
